Introducing our children to charity can be very rewarding for both parents and children. Learning about giving and helping others gives children a feeling of empowerment.

Talk to your kids about why giving back is so important. Make sure they see you putting that dollar into the collection bin at the register and talk about why you choose to do it. Find out what your children’s passions are. Do they want to help animals, the elderly, the homeless or maybe other children? Consider putting an assortment together of needed items for underprivileged individuals in our area.

Studies have shown that children/teens who volunteer are more likely to do well in school, have higher self-esteem, have enhanced social skills and are more likely to continue in charitable involvement as adults. Read more
