Throughout the year, we host two public events. These events provide an opportunity for children of all ages to participate in various service projects. Assembly lines are set up and children can travel through the line filling bags and projects for children in hospitals, the homeless, the elderly and other individuals in need in our community.
Hundreds of students participate in these events. Many, many volunteer hours are needed to make it all happen. Here is how YOU can help!
Volunteer Opportunities
Phone Calls – Reaching out to possible corporate contacts requesting corporate sponsorship of the events. Calls are also made to many local nonprofits to find a need and to arrange deliveries of the projects.
Prep Work – This involves everything from counting items and boxing projects up to cutting ribbon. We literally fill a UHaul the day before the event filled to the top with items for the projects the kids assemble.
Day of Event – Volunteer to work the day of the event. Work the registration table or supervise a project. 100 to 200 students are usually expected at each of these events. There is always something for the adults to do!
After the Event – Each project that is completed at the event, comes back to The Giving Tree headquarters and needs to be counted, and boxed up for delivery.
Brainstorming - We need your input... support and fresh ideas! We are always open to suggestions on growing The Giving Tree and making our events even more fabulous!
